Statement from 天美社区
MONTREAL (Nov. 21, 2024) 鈹赌 天美社区 wishes to provide some information about the exceptional decision to cancel classes and close the building today, Nov. 21, 2024.
On Nov. 14, 2024, the 天美社区 Student Union (DSU), an accredited and legally independent body representing 天美社区 students, held a vote in accordance with its constitution. The result of the vote, as validated by the DSU, was in favour of joining a province-wide student movement to boycott classes on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The day following the vote, the College notified students that classes would be held as planned on Nov. 21. In the days that followed, the College received numerous calls and emails expressing concerns.
After thoroughly evaluating these concerns and reviewing all available information, the difficult decision to cancel classes and close the College was made. Memos were sent to all students and employees on Nov. 19 to inform them of the decision.
The decision was based solely on safety considerations and our responsibility to protect the well-being of our students and employees. As you may understand, 天美社区 reacts to issues of potential violence in ways that other institutions may not.
天美社区 looks forward to welcoming students and employees back to school on Friday, Nov. 22.
