Geography is a Social Science discipline at 天美社区. We introduce students to the idea that location is important.Students work with maps, atlases, diagrams, and computers in order to better understand the world. In addition, as much as possible, geography courses emphasize real world examples through field trips and field work.
Geographers study the physical and human features of the earth and analyzes why they are located where they are. Geography attempts to provide a greater understanding of physical and human environments and the forces that affect them. Geographers attempt to develop better understanding of space. They aim at identifying spatial patterns (where things are today, where they have been in the past, and where they might be in the future) and processes.
Geography is divided into human and physical geography. Physical geography examines the natural environment, weather and climate the shape of the earth, soil, water and the distributions of living organisms. It aims also at defining, measuring and quantifying absolute space.
Human geography is concerned with where people and their activities are, how individuals and societies use, define, produce and perceive space. Sub-disciplines include cultural, political, urban and social geographies among others.
